The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bharuch is sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, and is implemented by the BAIF Development Research Foundation. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level Farm Science Center to speedy transfer of technology to the farmers fields. The aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to reduce the time lag between Generation of technology at the research institutions and it's transfer to the farmer's field for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis. In order to achieve this goal, four mandates have been envisaged in the design of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

KVK- Bharuch is engaged in providing training and demonstration on various aspects of agricultural development. The achievements of KVK are as follows:
1. During the year 2012 total 61 training programmes were conducted for farmers, farm women, rural youth and extension
functionaries in which 1927 participants were benefited.
2. Field demonstration on Paddy, Cotton, Pigeonpea, Gram, Wheat, Vegetable crops and fodder crops were conducted on 70 ha
area in which 250 farmers were benefited under FLD which gave 15-35 % higher yield over local cultivation practices.
3. Three On Farm Testing(OFT) were conducted. Two promised variety of soybean viz., JS 97-52 and NRC- 37 were assessed to
provide better option against GS 2 variety which is only variety seen in the field.
4. Different extension activities like Agri.fair, field days, Scientist-farmers interaction etc. were carried out in which 2249 farmers
have participated.
5. The mega event ‘Agriculture fair’ has been organized at KVK campus in collaboration with ATMA project, Bharuch during 24-25th
Feb.’2012. Total 2625 farmers have participated in the fair.
6. Introduced Maxican (Zygogramma) beetles to control congress grass especially in Zaghadia tehsil of Bharuch district.
7. Soil and water conservation activity like checkdam, Nalaplug, farm bunding etc. were carried out on farmers’ field.
8. Emphasis given on micro irrigation through drip irrigation
9. Technology transfer through farmers’ club approach which can help group members for speedy adoption of latest agricultural
technology.
10. Introduced new wheat variety GW-366 which has gave 17.3% higher yield over local variety.
11. Vermicompost preparation at farmers level and KVK farm
12. It is a matter of great pleasure that one of our participant from KVK-Bharuch Shri Jayantibhai C. Patel has received the national
award for successful agriculture on his farm. The award was conferred on him by Shri Sharad Pawar, Hon. Union Minister for
Agriculture, Govt. of India on 26th Feb.’2010 at New Delhi. Mr. Jayantibhai was provided airfare to receive the award. The
success story was published in the book titled ‘Harvest of Hope’ accounts the success stories of 101 farmers of the country.
